It’s simple: Help small farms and ranches become sustainable and produce good for you, good to eat, food.

We work with family owned ranches throughout the Pacific Northwest educating, consulting, and certifying Pasture Proper™ food.

Pasture Proper™

Pasture Proper™ products are grass-raised and pasture finished. It's food produced without antibiotics, hormones, pesticides or genetically modified organisms (GMO).

We've been working our own successful ranches, and helping our neighbors grow and work theirs for the past thirty years. Our passion for how the land can best support the animals we raise, and how the animals we raise can produce the most naturally tender and flavorful meat has led us to spend years studying, learning and applying our vision. Long before people were talking about organic, natural, and humanely grown animals, we were living this concept.

Several years ago, we realized that our philosophy and practices were complex enough to warrant their own terminology -- that's when we coined the term Pasture Proper™. Pasture Proper™ takes into account not only the life cycle of the animal and the grass that the animals consume, but also how the entire process, conception to consumption, needs to be holistic and sustainable.

After closing ranch operations in Oregon and relocating to Idaho, we are currently working with a select producer group, making sure that they are following standards and guidelines that we have proven over years of work to provide folks with meat that is raised in a way that is best for the land, and best for our own health and well-being.

Why Pasture Proper™ meat is so good

Our meat tastes great because our ranchers work at it. They go beyond meat that is just good for you. Grassfed is more nutritious and flavorful than grainfed (www.eatwild.com); however, it has a reputation for not being as tender. We have worked for years determining what cattle are the most tender. We believe in working with Mother Nature

We view ourselves as grass farmers, not ranchers.There is a movement growing in the livestock industry demonstrating the value to our environment and to ourselves in raising grassfed, pasture finished livestock. We believe that land can be managed so it is continuously producing grasses that are good for our animals. By rotating them from pasture to pasture, animals stay content and the land can rejuvenate. The end result is healthy, good tasting products for you, and a sustainable practice for the earth.
